Nomadelfia in Rome is often the protagonist of exchanges with distant realities, which bring for a few days the colors and scents of different places, each with its own wounds and blessings. One of the realities with which this exchange has been taking place regularly for some years is Casa Do Menor. It is an association that has been operating in Brazil since 1986, and is linked to Nomadelfia by a deep friendship.

Father Renato Chiera, its founder, recounts: "Casa Do Menor is an association that was born almost 32 years ago to respond to the cry of young people who told me: "I don't want to die and you do nothing". […]  It was the cry of children, adolescents, young people and many others. And we understood that their cry was to have a future, bread, a home, a school, but the greatest cry was to have a family, the presence of someone who would make them feel like children. And then it was the cry for tools to build a project for future life. […] Casa Do Menor tries to answer these two things."

This year Nomadelfia hosts their team for ten days of spiritual exercises, led by Father Renato himself: "We are doing the spiritual exercises in a community to which we are so attached, to which we love so much, with which we feel very much brothers, than the community of Nomadelfia, which I have known for many years for many reasons". And then a wish that has already been granted: "Our community came to Rome to make a retreat and then because we had the dream of going to the pope. Why go to the pope? […] it is because the pope represents Jesus on earth but also the Church, the universal Catholic Church and he has a big heart, he always says that we must stay on the street, that we must go to the peripheries... And we first of all believed that we were also giving him joy – in fact we saw that he was happy – and this dream came true. We wanted to entrust this work to the pope, to the Church."

Father Renato adds: "We have already had so many of those gifts that we do not deserve, but we say thank you to God and thank you to all those who have accompanied us this thing. Thank you very much. God is wonderful and always surprises us!"

We too thank Father Renato and Casa do Menor for giving us again the opportunity to renew our friendship in the Lord!
